A Welcoming Entrance & Bohemian Herb Garden Lounge - Design & Build

Co-creating a Bohemian Herb Garden Lounge.
This project took on a life of it's own and will likely take about 5 seasons to fully mature and we are currently in season 3.5. This project, like all of my projects, is a collaboration between the client and I - their tastes and desires merging with mine and my know how. The climbing roses and wisteria are gaining traction on their journey to cover the pergola, the mulberry fence is steadily being trained into it's living fence purpose, the grapes and hops wind in and around it - the lavender, calendula, nettles, milkweed, dahlia, peach, currants, gooseberry and wormwood have all found a home with a central bed of Sweet Grass whose scent is absolutely intoxicating mid summer. This project contains the color and Bohemian Wonder of the beautiful and deep family that abides there.
Hand cut 90 degree angle Canadian flag stone mortared at the base of the pillars
BEFORE = The mystery patio. The top layer was Canadian flag. Under that was 3 inches of slag sand. Under that was a concrete patio. Under that was more flag stone. We ended up with about 7 tons of Canadian flag stone that I recycled by hand cutting it and using it for the pond siding and the bases of the pergola columns.
DURING BUILD: Cedar yet to be stained. Basic layout in place
Freshly media blasted and painted with a high heat white. White Buffalo Woman Inspired. Though rust has come through, the white has held on strong for over 3 seasons now.
You can see the pond pump system cover functions also as a sitting space where you can cozy up, right next to the edge of the water to sit and enjoy.
Beautiful rose and bramble surround an outlying column that is purely for aesthetics - bringing a piece of the pergola to the far side of the back yard by the bedroom.
Hops taking over the cost effective deer fencing turning it into a living, green fence on either side of the back garden gate that gives access to and from the garden lounge into the play field of the far back yard.
Here the installation of the fireplace is in progress. This stove was built so that it could easily be removed if ever wanting to re-paint.
Huge cedar raised beds have a Hoogle* base with 3 types of soil on top.
Tons of Roses. These babies take a LOT of care to keep up but they are worth it to those of us who love roses.
The door color and ornaments were picks from my clients and add so much personal touch and charm. I love the white bird chimes against the white flag stone base. Super charming.
