This is my favorite garden room flooring installation to date. I hand cut every stone from raw Pennsylvania slabs that were 3-4" thick and weighing up to 400lbs a piece. Most of the stones herein are over 70lbs a piece, some as much as 300. This patio was set on 30 + inches of road base compacted in 6" watered layers over a week. We also built the knee wall.
Here is the basic design concept I came up with and the site during base prep. I ended up changing the pattern of the stone mid stream with the client to 3 unique styles interweaving one another and 2 distinct murals.
Working the stone saw and an image of some of the excellent stone I selected pre-fabrication.
In progress here on the flat work and the knee wall.
LEFT - we are 80% into the layout pre-setting. Note the beautifully woven natural stone walk
