Here is my garden room from when I began it to 2.5 seasons maturity. You can see pictures below of the construction process and the plant development over the past 2.5 years. I used posts and metal to create a skeletal system to grow my vines on and create a feeling of a room without the expense of a traditional pergola which blocks out a lot of sun and doesn’t keep the weather out. For budget reasons, I used treated pine posts vs. cedar as it saved me (during covid) about $300 per post. Though the posts are not structural in the sense they are meant to support weight from above, they are buried 42” and set in concrete. I poured a basic concrete slab for flatwork. This is a relatively low cost way to build a cozy and charming garden room.
